Mexicali

This city, located on the border of Mexico and California got its name from combining the two words...MEXI-co and CALI-fornia.

Mexicali is the state capital of Baja California. Known as "The city that captures the sun" it has long, hot summers and short, cold winters. It has an average rain precipitation of a little more than 3 inches a year.

This city offers tourists excellent chinese cuisine, a State theater, and an art gallery called The City Gallery that presents

an exposition of the most representative Mexican painters, sculptors and photographers. At Plaza Calafia tourists can see brave matadors swing their red flag at angry bulls. Every couple of years, the world famous "Baja 1000" off-road race draws visitors to Mexicali.
